Ivan Barbashev has signed a new contract with the St. Louis Blues.

As a biased Blues fan, I like this signing for Barbashev

Great signing for the Blues. I like Barbashev a lot and it's great for them to get him on a deal just a hair above the Jost deal, and in my opinion, Barbashev is much better than Jost. Love this signing for the blues.

The only thing I don't like about this is that it walks him straight into free agency.

It's an overpaid contract for probably one of the least productive 4th Line Center at this moment. I hope it turns around but we could have spent money on other areas and move Joshua up.

I'm hoping he could do that, but no. I don't think he's even close to it. He's been underwhelming in every area that doesn't include hitting, and power grinding. He's been subpar on offense, and this year highlighted how bad he was on defense. So I'm honestly thinking this was an overpayment, and he wasn't worth the contract. Most likely hoping Joshua will move up this year or next year. But Blues rate him too highly.

Not sure how we make the cap. I feel like our team is at the ceiling and doesn't compare to teams that are really contending.
