The only top 6 guy I would pursue on the free agent market at this point is Ritchie. Other than that, you'd have to acquire a Top 6 LW via trade

Not really. Losing Hyman sucks but they upgraded a lot

It does not look great. Just feels off. Like who’s this top six guy they can trade for that can actually get that weird feeling out of the way? You have to move a d man or one of the 4. But these d men are not making that much to get a top 4 d and a top 6 fwd. maybe get a bottom pair d man and a top six forward. Then ur really hoping on Sandin

Rakell is your only option in my eyes. Really the only cheap forward that kinda fits the bill. And indeed if anyone gets hurt it’s probably not going to go very well.

Outside of the goaltending, defence and big 4, there’s really not too much there. I like kerfoot, I think he’s much better in the top 6. Kampf is ok I guess, and can maybe perform better in a bigger role. Robertson I think can succeed in the top 6. He has the skill, and what better guys to learn from then the captain and nylander, but that’s a big if. Bunting is a top 6 player. Can he be our Hyman replacement? He certainly has the tools from watching him. He’s clearly a goal scorer, but once again, it’s a bet, not a sure thing. There’s a lot of bets on these guys outside of the big 4, and I’m just not really comfortable with that. There’s just not much there. They payed too much on marner. Everyone one else is worth their contract in the big 4, it’s just marner. Just like when we talk about trading one of the big 4, we mean marner. They screwed themselves.

Assuming they are banking on get these guys on super cheap contracts when they are up and then they can actually create a team around them, but that wishful thinking

God I hate the Marner hate. Yeah he hasn't exactly had the greatest post season performances, but no one has. Marner had a fantastic regular season. Lead the team in scoring. Matthews also had a great regular season and poor post season, but no one is calling to trade him. The logic makes absolutely zero sense. Matthews is a top 3 player in the league, but he doesn't have the season he just did if Marner isn't on his wing

The top 4, Matthews Marner Nylander Tavares, with the improved goaltending, and same Dcore, can be a playoff team. But the Atlantic will be a different beast than the Canadian Division, and I stress, if one of the top 4 gets hurt and misses significant time, they will struggle to score and could miss the playoffs
