Love Forsberg, but that extension likely ends up costing you Bura, and at the cost of the teams last 1st rounder for the next few years I am curious if that really ends up being worth it. Maybe JTC/Kadri make up for it I guess but that is A LOT of cap space tied up in wingers and will hit the Avs somewhere it hurts

I made a second one for the next year and i think the year after newhook gets a bridge deal and mack gets most of johnsons money. In those scenarios i am hoping the cap goes up a little as well to add depth signings in the next two years

In the short term its fine, but in the long term I think it would cost you one of Byram/Newhook/Bura. Especially in a flat cap which is expected to stay for 3-5 more years

Historically teams have been able to spend big cap hits on a certain number of core players around 2c/3w/3d/1g and each one you go over costs you elsewhere.

I think Forsberg is a far more interesting option if Col just waits until UFA and then decides if they want to sign him instead of Bura as he is clearly leaving NSH after they choose to rebuild. If Col trades big assets like 1sts and prospects they really need long term cost control, they are surprisingly asset poor after this offseason
