Rico to Minny

Description
What would it take to get Rico at ~50% retention? I realize he’s not a 1C but dude can dominate draws and I think he’d be a stable 45pt guy for the next 3 years while we sit in limbo and eventually decide to tank.

If the Ducks retain 50% they arent taking Rask back, its one or the other

But Beckman + a 3rd probably gets it done whether that be with the retention or with Rask going to ANA

Yeah my spidey sense was telling me I was getting too greedy throwing Rask in. I figured (hoped) with Rico going the other way, they wouldn’t hate the 1 year center band aid of Rask. But fair enough. Wild could dump him elsewhere for a late pick or hold for 1 more year.

Honestly, as a Ducks fan, I just don't see the value in this. As you said above, "dude can dominate draws and I think he’d be a stable 45pt guy for the next 3 years".

To me, the Henrique is more valuable to the Ducks as a consistent 2 way guy that can eat some of the tougher minutes instead of throwing the kids to the wolves. That, IMO, is more valuable than a fringy prospect, a 3rd, and a cap dump. Especially when the team is still eating half the contract and taking on Rask. Take him out and it might be closer.

Is it fair? Maybe. I wouldn't do it though.

Zegras, Getzlaf, Steel, Lundestrom, Grant. We already have 5 capable NHL centres without Henrique, I could see something like

Henrique (25% retained)

For

Beckman
3rd
Rask

The combo of 50% retention and taking Rask is too much "Wasted Money" for a team with an internal budget like the Ducks

With the retention MN doesn't need to dump Rask.

I've liked the idea of Henrique in MN for a couple of years now. If MN can get him for $3m/yr and not give up more than a 2nd + something small I'd be oaky with it.

Makes sense, Rask can be dropped. So if it’s just Beckman + 3rd, it sounds like it’s still maybe not quite enough for the ~50% retention. Either 25% or pony up more.

Yeah that was kinda my thought too. Can’t be an overpay, but if he can be acquired for a reasonable cost with retention, it might be nice depth. I really have no idea what to do with this team anymore at this point, so I’m grasping at straws a bit.

Yeah, I think 25% is semi-reasonable for that offer. I mean, the fact that Dadonov with zero retention essentially netted Ottawa a decent dman and a 3rd is kinda where my mind is at right now.

Could this be one of the first moments in capfriendly history where two fanbases end up coming to a semi-reasonable consensus?!?!
