commend you on the trade but it won't happen. Drury is being smart about it and won't cough up valuable young assets for a player that may or may not need surgery. While that surgery can be done, it is super risky and can potentially not allow him to play anymore. I get it, he is a great player and would love to have a natural goal scorer on the team like him, but its not worth it. I would rather wait and gamble on the kids coming up than spend the picks and assets to get a player that may or may not be able to play again + 10mil will put a damper on the cap that will successfully delete Mika from the picture because Fox will get 9.5+

And you are right, rangers should add both laf kakko AND a first, when zegras, byfield, turcotte, drysdale, 3rd overall, Rossi, boldy, are ALL off the table by their teams (I’m rolling my eyes here btw if you don’t get sarcasm). Buffalo will eventually have to accept the best offer for eichel since he will not play another game with them. They don’t want that distraction in the locker room, and I doubt he agrees until surgery is performed. The longer they wait, the more of the season he will miss with surgery. At best it’s a 3 month recovery so even now he misses some time. This will lower his value even more.

Now that being said he should get some good prospects still, but you are looking at a Chytil/kravtsov, a Lundkvist, and a Jones/Robertson, georgiev and a 1st. There is still no team that would be willing to beat that as almost all have pulled out.

Eichel value will not fall further unless he plays like trash. I think LA doesn't need Eichel, Kopitar can handle his own so that's why you do not trade Byfield either.

Minnesota is effed for cap so idk how they make Eichel work but they shouldn't even consider it due to needing those small contracts over the long haul here.

Kakko looks like he won't be much more than a 3W based on current play. That may change. AL looked out of sorts and did nothing for the 1OA pick. If I'm buffalo that's what I want at minimum and I wouldn't take less.
