Description
I’m curious this seems like an obvious overpay. Buffalo has to take this right? From our long term perspective we’d still have a good amount of depth at most positions. Paid a little extra for slight retention to make it easier on the cap for us. Definitely beats 4 1sts. Plus Kreider on the right side of the second line makes me feel less sick about his contract.

Clearly an overpay, I’m just curious to see if done what it does to our youth and it’s not as bad as I thought. Considering we’d still have Barron, Schneider, Robertson, Chytil, Laf, Kravtsov, Miller, Lindgren, Fox and Shesty. It’s a pretty damn good lineup that’s balanced pretty well.

I just don't see him being worth what many on here think during the season I saw a Buffalo fan send him to TB for Point and Cirelli I was like I wouldn't give you Point for him straight up

Honestly I wouldn’t trade Point for anyone in the league right now. He shows up when it matters, is a proven winner and locked up affordable for the next 9 years.

We’re still too early to see on Kakko. While he may be great defensively it remains to be seen if he will ever be a big point producer in the nhl. Eichel would definitely put up more than he has on a better team with competent line mates and a good coach.

Yeah I wouldn’t do that. Matthews can’t do crap in the playoffs. MacKinnon could be a comparable though, but his next contract will probably make him far more expensive than Point.

Not every guy breaks into the league and lights it up. Given his lack of consistency in deployment time and linemates I think under Gallant he will take big strides forward. Plus he’s already good defensively, so that’s half of the battle there. With an elevated role I think we’ll see why he was hyped up.
