Arizona doesn't do that. Matthews will sign with them as a free agent in the future. Matthews and Wright is going to be a lethal 1-2 punch down the middle.

I can understand why Arizona doesn't do the trade for three years of Matthews. But I highly doubt Matthews has any interest in signing with Arizona as a UFA. IMO he wants to go to a big market, contending team, not a NHL afterthought franchise.

Houston is going to be on top of the NHL in 5-7 years.

Matthews will go home for a year or so and then become the face of Houston hockey.

There is no logical reason to even think Arizona will be good in 4 to 5 years. It's still not a big market team. Heck when the Leafs play in Arizona their one game a year, the arena is only 2/3 fulls and most of those are Leaf fans...snowbirds. We'll see, I don't see Matthews interested in signing with Arizona at all.

Tkachuk is an RFA after next year. You guys get Tkachuk for at least 2 years. Reilly is a UFA of a position we don't need after the Zadorov trade. Then we are getting our 4th best center and LW in the deal. This is amazing for the leafs IMO and horrible for Calgary

Yes, Tkachuk is a UFA in two years, Reilly is a UFA in one year. Having an additional year of Tkachuk is not worth Kerfoot and Robertson to the Leafs, I know Flames fans think Tkachuk is superman but he ain't.
