If you need protection for the young players, why not just trade for someone like Ryan Reaves?


With that aside, the trade with Ottawa is basically a 3rd for Tierney and then Greig for 1 year of Kadri.

When I say protection I meant in the lineup. Not actual protection. Not rushing cozen to 1st line. Not saying tierney is first line guy at all but rather sacrifice him then cozens.

If you need to "sacrifice" a player on your team every game, then something is seriously wrong with the team.

That player wouldn't feel very appreciated for being a "sacrifice"


Why not just keep Kadri?

This team is not going to win and not the plan. Kadri is good center and will help Ottawa protect their centers in the lineup. Letting their young players player lower roles just like my plan for tierney is. Except they are better team right now. And both teams will flip each new center at deadline.

As for why tierney will be happy is he is contract year and playing top line minutes with better players will increase point totals which will increase his pay day. He will be happy.

Well, Ottawa isn't interested in giving up a blue chip prospect to go along with a scheme like this.
