Jon Merrill has signed a new contract with the Minnesota Wild.

Consistently the worst defenseman on the ice for the Canadiens during the Cup run, along with Gustafsson, which tells something. There's no big risk if he's the 7th defenseman but he should not be a regular on a team aiming for the Cup.

Played well for the Wings earlier in the season, not so much with the Canadiens. Good move for a depth defensive D.

Good signing for the wild. I think Merrill can succeed in a bottom pair role for the Wild. I also like his defensive style of game that he plays.

good for the one year i thought he bruins were actually going to pick him up at he trade deadline instead of riley but riley ended up to be pre good and has 3more year with boston but this guy played rly well with mtl too since he left whoever he played for before (similar to riley) but i thought mtl was going to sign him since they lost weber even when the still got savard but good signing after losing suter too
