Quoting: Billy12Bob
They will have more than 7 million to sign those players after matching the offer sheet and the only one of them that have arbitration rights is Dickinson. It will be a bit tight but it'll be done.
Have a look at their roster and count the players there are 4 of the already signed that will be sent to the AHL and they have both trades that can be done and buyouts they can use.
BTW. I'm a Detroit fan.
Yep, I know you are lol. Let's run the numbers...
Current cap space: $14,064,341 (22 players)
Cap after EP OS: $3,787,513 (23 players)
Send down 2 F, 1 D: $6,087,513
Juolevi signs QO (best case scenario): $5,213,388
Before any trades or buyouts (if Dickinson goes to arb), $5.2M is what's left to sign Hughes + Dickinson.
Dickinson's QO is $1.6M
Hughes just watched his peers (Makar & Heiskanen) get 8.5-9M AAV. I think he'll want to cash in on that after a 0.73 PPG season, even if just a little. A bridge is going to cost north of 5M IMO.
So, a $10.276M OS extended to EP will make things really damned difficult for Benning.
