Miller is UFA and you need a goalie at about 1.25m whether it's Dubynk or another back up Kreider has a NMC so he isn't going to a poor team with cap space, and really doesn't Kreider's contract hold long term value, so cap would have back in a trade.
Actually your trade value posted is pretty fair. But there are just so few teams that take on big cap long term, without similar cap back. I believe the biggest UFA centre signing this year was Denault at 5.5m.
Kings decided it was better to have Denault and 4.5m in cap space, plus all the young assets that would needed to acquire Eichel then make a trade for the 10m Eichel.
