Greenway will be used as an asset in the Eichel deal. Minnesota's 3rd will also go.

Minnesota badly needs centers (especially if Kaprisov doesn't return) and they have boatloads of cap space to take on Monahan's contract on a potential low-cost bounce-back deal.

Calgary gets the best center the franchise has had in decades, a young superstar in Jack Eichel who can play on a line with Gaudreau and Tkachuk or Lindholm. Eichel was picked right behind McDavid, making the Battle of Alberta that much more enticing.

Sabres reportedly want the equivalent of 4 first round picks. Valimaki and Pelletier were both first rounders and solid prospects. Greenway was a 2nd rounder but is a young, established NHL player. Buffalo also gets our 2022 1st (top 5 protected if possible). Calgary throws in an extra 2nd and 3rd so we don't lose anything off our main roster (besides Valimaki). We also get to keep Connor Zary who is probably the higher-upside prospect.

Not too sure WPG or (DeMelo) would accept this deal but Calgary could use one more really solid defenseman so it's worth a shot.
