This is a lot of money and term for someone who shouldn't be getting that much or that long. But that's the market, when there is no one out there.

The troublesome thing with these Florida signings has been the small sample size of good performance with their team. Who knows how it all shakes out when the divisions open up again.

FLA traded for Montour and Bennett for a reason. They did their homework on these players before trading for them. There's a reason they did well in the small sample size with FLA. FLA looked at their body of work. It's not like Montour is a rookie. He has played 293 career games.

$3.5mm/year for a puck-moving, smooth-skating RD is a bargain. He's guaranteed to put up ~.37 points per game and can play a ton of minutes if necessary. He's not great defensively, but he's not horrible either. Just use him properly and give him a lot of OZ faceoffs.
