Mike Reilly has signed a new contract with the Boston Bruins.

Not the dman the Bruins need. Two non-pk LHD now.

He played well last year but I ain't sure whether he's the kind of D Bruins need at the moment.

Things that consistenly annoy me as a Leafs fan: the Leafs in the playoffs, Habs fans and the Bruins getting guys on insanely team-friendly deals. Great re-signing again

Have you seen Reilly’s metrics? He’s got sick corsi in all situations (including pk) and he’s been playing his best hockey with the Bruins so far. I don’t know how the guy gets signed to this good of a deal and people find a way to complain.

Gryz is a decent option on the PK, and the caliber of the forwards makes up for it. A shutdown PK D man will come tomorrow

Great D, but the Bruins don't specifically need a guy like him. They probably should've used the money on someone better, but it's still a good deal given how good Reilly is.

Given the s*it-show that's been on display over the last week - give ur ACGM's-heads a shake folks - this basically rises near too, or @ the top of totally sensible GM-deals; B's depth was exposed last spring; can never have too many D-Men...

Who's better? Consider level of play, age, contract and cost to acquire?

Well free agency doesn't have much on the left side, but maybe they still could've made a trade for a better LD. Mike Rielly still isn't bad, but they really need to find a true 1LD.

There's not many "true 1LD" available. Lindholm and Ekholm are options but they would both cost a lot and both are UFAs next year.

Don't believe he's worth 3 million. I think he's going to get shuffled off to a basement team in year 2 or 3 of the contract.

He’s been averaging around 0.5 points per game with the Sens and Bruins over the last 2 seasons. Hopefully he can keep close to that pace going forward, or even hit 30 points a season.

I’m not sold that Grzelcyk can replicate his numbers from last year, and short of McAvoy the B’s don’t have another defenceman who will pile up some points. Fair deal I’d say

He's a very good 3rd pair dman, top4 filler when injuries happen. Love it if Sweeney grabs a top4 LD in FA or trade, hate it if Reilly is his answer to the top4 LD hole.

He's a 30+ point defenseman who isn't going to get 1st powerplay time, a rare thing in the NHL in general

he looked like a completely different player in Boston vs Montreal or Ottawa....but no way would i pay him that much for that long. Do it for another season- then okay, not a flash in the pan, more of a late bloomer.
Karl Alzner 2.0 is now a bruin.

A bit much played a lot better compared to other former teams but i don't think he's worth 3m although 3yrs is fair tho but for the max i would only give him 2.5m but a good 2-3D liner
