Joel Armia a signé un contrat de 4 ans d'une valeur de 13 600 000 $ avec les Canadiens de Montréal, le 27 juill. 2021. Le contrat comporte un cap hit de 3 400 000 $.
Few RW heading to FA might have helped him get a bit more than expected, but I’m happy to keep a player with such a unique skill set! I’d say it’s fair
I remember this exact contract being signed by Paul Byron a couple of seasons ago, and he spent last year bouncing around on waivers. This much money and term for a 28 year old bottom 6 guy is a big risk and Bergevin seems not to have learned from his own mistake

Byron was on waivers for cap reasons (same exact reason as Tyler Johnson). He wasn't anywhere near a waiver quality player
So Byron AND Armia are among bottom six top 10 of the league if we understand MB move. One is the fastest pker eva, the second munch a puck for age. Do we have the best third liners of the league ?? Could that be it and why we made scf?
I had him slightly lower ($3.25M x 3) so no complaints here. He's worth keeping around for that price. I think that probably means Byron is moved, depending on how free agency shakes out.
Good deal for both sides . Armia is big , good shot but inconsistent sometimes. The one that compared Byron to Armia doesn’t no much lol. They are complete opposite, and Armia’s contract will end 2 years before Byron In term of age (32 vs34)
