I agree this is an awful move but I think he's done a really good job otherwise. Got decent value for Graves especially since he was going to be gone for nothing and that Makar extension was great. Draft was solid too

Why on earth did they select him if they weren’t going to keep him? You cannot tell me Kale Clague couldn’t have fetched more than a 4th round pick.

If this was SEA's plan all along, they could've easily picked Clague instead and gotten significantly more. They still win in a vacuum, as they got a pick for one of the worst dmen in the league, but there was some definite opportunity cost here.

How much Clague or Maata (with retention) would had brought in?

Not really. Pitlick had a better season last year, and it’s not like there’s much potential with Fischer.
