I think it's hard for me to get excited about any trade or FA signing without a sense on the Tkachuk and Gaudreau extensions.

Regardless of which way it ends up going it changes the trajectory of the team and decisions.

That said, McCabe seems like a solid fit regardless of what happens. Kind of want to bring Ritter back, if he wants to anyway.

And I'd probably want Schwartz over Coleman given there's a larger sample size of what he's bringing to the table.

Yea it's difficult to be excited about committing to UFA's when the future of Chuky/JG are still up in the air. If either of those two doesn't end up extending in Calgary, it drastically changes the future outlook of the organization.

It's curious how we'll go about resigning Chuky, JG, and Mang next year. We have no big contracts that are coming of the books next season (only bottom roster players that have to be replaced at similar costs) and it's a flat cap. Where is the 6million we need for raises for these 3 comings from? It would have been Gio's contract but we don't have that anymore. I wonder if we see Brad sign someone to a big one-year contract, or try and move one of these 3 guys for someone locked up longer.
