the Mailloux effect

Description
How ever you spin it, drafting Mailloux is a controversy.

I wonder if it will impact MTL's chance to sign big FA names that might be disgusted by that choices (or their wives , or the fact that they have daughters).

After this cup run, just like last year.... UFA like Toffoli were interested to play for the habs when they saw them play in the playoffs. Will that luster be tarnished by this decision?

Like, I wonder what Danault's wife think of this? She must be disgusted like most woman I know...

I'm willing to bet that the hockey wives club, led by Angela Price must not be happy that the habs drafted Mailloux.

I think a lot of players subscribe to the “You don’t get to pick who your teammates are, give me my paycheck” belief, but this situation is so unbelievably ridiculous that I do wonder if players are hesitant. More so with Bergevin than the prospect. 2010 Chicago director of player personnel and now does this? Sheeeesh

I doubt that it’s that significant to impact UFA’s other than the guys not wanting to be in Canada due to scrutiny and higher taxes. But you could be right. I guess there’s no way to really know.

So you make a big deal about who they drafted and how it will affect the look of the team, and then you proceed to sign Tony DeAngelo (given his reason for being a FA in the first place is due to controversy it seems a little ironic).

I’m assuming he’s just signing ADA since the Habs are heavily linked to him

IDK if it's OP that wants to sign DeAngelo, just that the Habs are linked with him.

Well... he might be interest to be wanted by a GM that believes in second chances.

It's mostly a representation of what I think will happen. MB has showed that it's hockey first and only hockey... if he thinks Tony can help him win, he will sign him.

My wish is Hamilton, but it will probably be Savard and ADA

To be fair it's a deal I could see Dubas doing as well. Similar to with Chucky, it would be a one year "Redemption Deal" to better the team and hopefully help the player.

No, but having played hockey... I know that kind of behavior is rampant. The things some guys will do to Puck bunnies is purely disgusting... and they are proud of it. So I imagine a lot of hockey players are desensibilized to these type of acts.... until you get a wife and a daugther.

Just thing about what they do to eachothers during hazing... lot of cruel people in this world... Mailloux did not only take a picture without consent.... he shared it, and gave everybody her name and info. It was meant to humiliate her...

If he took a picture for himself to wank off... its bad, but it's stays private - he went out of his way to hurt this young lady.

That’s fair. I agree with you. How a lot of guys act in the dressing room is maybe the worst people I’ve experienced in my life. My hope is that it’s just because I was playing with a bunch of delinquent teenagers and that it is different with grown men playing professionally, but hockey does definitely have some bad locker room culture problems.

How is Bergevin to blame for what happened in Chicago? You're pointing the finger at one guy in a large organization and blaming him for an assault committed by a completely separate person...

I can assure you what Mailloux did is unfortunately very common in the NHL. For example, Teddy Purcell sent a snapchat during the 2013-14 playoffs of Stamkos getting a hummer in a Montreal hotel. I was personally shown the video by a friend of Teddy's friend, so who knows how many people that video was sent to. These incidents happen all the time without us knowing anything.

On another note, how is Bergevin to blame for what happened in Chicago? You're pointing the finger at one guy in a large organization and blaming him for an assault committed by a completely separate person...

first... what the hell is a hummer? second, I agree with you

Why did you dig up some random Armchair GM from a month ago?

And what are you even saying? That it’s good to be a bad person?

I was looking at the OP's horrible Marner mock trades and seen this.

And no. While I don't agree with was Logan did, I think people are going way too over board with it. But that's beside the point. My boo hoo was too "hockey locker rooms have culture issues"

I’m saying that bad people are bad people. I put up with them. I continued playing hockey. What exactly do I need to grow thicker skin about?
