I agree with the philosophy just not the execution. I think one or two forwards should be the maximum NJ adds for veteran presence. If they are really in a position to compete they can add expiring deals at the deadline. Young forwards need to be able to play in order to grow and as much as some vet insulation can help- the way this roster is constructed looks like it is actually pushing capable young players down. I'd be interested in adding a scoring veteran forward to play with Jack and a strong defensive center to play on the third line and let homegrown players compete for the rest of the forward spots.
Where I really do agree about the importance of vets is on D. Whenever I think about fututre pairs or make Armchair GM teams I try to make sure young guys are paired with vets who can help protect them. Assuming our top four could look something like Graves-Hamilton (I pray) and Smith-Severson, I'd be interested in finding a strong bottom pair RHD to play alongside Bahl or L.Hughes and help protect them as they get into the league.
