My thinking behind this trade, was looking at what Philly paid for Risto, and knowing that Hockeymen love Nurse and what Risto, Jones, etc were commanding. As everyone has pointed out that this trade would be a clear win for the Oilers, I also think that if Philly called Holland with this deal, he wouldn't take it either because he wants to give Nurse Seth Jones money.

I don't think Nurse will get more than Draisaitl. Probably something around $7.5 - 8M max IMO.

If I were GM and Nurse is looking for anything above $6M I would start trying to trade him. I have zero faith in Holland and can easily see Nurse being the 2nd highest paid Oiler.

I think that some GM will give Nurse more than 6M, but he isn't worth it, which is why I would trade him. I don't see how it would be out of touch to be aware of the value your players actually bring and how to ensure that you get value with contracts. I would argue that the person that is out of touch is Ken Holland.

You're out of touch because Nurse is easily worth more than $6M. If he would sign a $6.5M x 8 deal I'd do it today, but I suspect he'll get over $7M. I really don't see him going over $8M though - and if he's asking for Seth Jones money you trade him at the deadline.

Well we certainly agree on trading him when he asks for Seth Jones money (which he certainly will), though I think Holland gives it to him rather than trades him.
