Bellows and a 2nd cancel out Komarov and Hickey. That leaves Blues getting a 2nd (that should actually go to another team) to retain $5M on Tarasenko. Absolutely a null value at best.

Idk where you got bellows and a 2nd for 5.5 million, thats an overpay. Plus that 5.5 million is still useful. Unlike ladd who is 5.5x2 and got 2 2nds plus hes useless. And if they want to bury it its 4.375 dead cap for ladd but 3.25 dead for leo and hickey. By my very simple calculations leo and hickey should cost just a 2nd.

Crunch your value all you want (it’s off), but how can you look at this deal and say sure, STL sees this as beneficial. They get two players that are worse than any player on the current roster yet cost $5.5M while also retaining $5M on Tarasenko the next 2 years. We come out actually gaining $500k in cap without including whatever Bellows goes for, who is currently looking like a career 4th liner.

Isles fans on this board are obsessed with acquiring Tarasenko yet are consistently awful at offering anything of value. Most deals I see on here are null value. This offer in particular is less than null value. Worst fan base on this board, and that’s saying something with TML fans right there offering Holl and Engvall for top-6 players.

What was meant by negative value means what the islanders offer is a net negative. Which is certainly not the case.
As for you saying it, you jumped into our conversation and got upset that this is what was said. The topic of our conversation was if the islanders package had a net positive or negative value. So coming in and talking about if its a fair trade which i must have said 5 times i wasnt commenting about is completely irrelevant. Did you want me to clap for you that you think its a fleecing? Now... no matter how many times you protest to the contrary, this offer holds negative value to the Blues in the present (which is their publicly stated lens for Tarasenko trade offers). Period. End of story. They'd be giving a now healthy top tier sniper WITH considerable retention for a pile of useless trash, an okay prospect and delayed futures. It makes the Blues worse right now, obviously. Again, I cannot fathom how anyone could suggest otherwise.

It means you take 1 team (the islanders for example) and say bellows, 2 2nds, komarov, and hickey. Does this package (nothing to do with what theyre getting in return have positive or negative value? Do you realize the massive risk any team is taking by acquiring him? He played 34 games in 2 seasons with multiple surgeries and he’s approaching the wrong side of 30. The isles are the ones with leverage in this situation not you guys

Above all else, the Blues value the cap freedom of trading Tarasenko. Your deal actually makes us add to our cap and don’t even give anything worth while to make up for that.
