Description

The math is not looking good for old Jimmy Benning

-Petey and Hughes both sign reasonable bridge deals which will come off the books the same time as Myers.

-Garland was 36th last year in 5v5 scoring on a black hole Yotes team. 3rd in league for penalties drawn. He's getting paid.

-Not sure on Dickenson's value, assume in the 1.8 to 2.8 M range is fair on a short term deal.

-No this does not take into affect a Holtby/Virtanen buyout/trade but even then the Canucks are barely under the cap with one of the worst cap-to-performance D cores of all time(maybe the worst?).

-Canucks didn't have a first or second in last years draft, and they only have one pick in the first 4 rounds this year (in other words limited help is coming).

-On the bright side that is one of the best top 9s in the league, and Demko is freak. Given that and the less than adequate Pacific division they probably make the playoffs.

Schmidt would be a good addition to a team with cap. He is still a good player who had a down year on an awful Canucks team. Holtby will be harder to get rid of but it’s for one year which shouldn’t cost too much to lose…

Moving Ferland to the LTIR list frees up another $3.5M and I don't think Garland will get $6m.

Yep, old Jimmy still has a few tricks up his sleeve, excited to see what he can do. I've been very impressed with his tenure in Vancouver so far.

For the point of simplicity, I agree I think Petterson should get more, it was more to just outline the awful situation old Jimmy has the Canucks in.
