Fair deal. CAR gets a 2nd for a guy who shouldn't even be on the team (huh? SEA), so they kind of win. CBJ gets a rough d-man they can try and turn into something. if it works great, if it doesn't they are only out a 2nd and get a bottom-pair NHL d-man.

He's 23 now, he's not exactly going to get worlds better. And his defense hasn't developed from when he was in Calgary as a Hitman

He's been viewed like this by NHL GM's for years. Does no one else remember 2 years ago Montreal rejected a deal for Petry because they didn't see Bean as an NHL player?

I mean I do, but again we are talking about a team who's had a plethora of Defenseman in the NHL for years so Bean never really got a huge chance there.

Yet, now they need to re-vamp their D core, bean isn't part of their plan? Does this not suggest there's issues with the player?

Meanwhile, they’ve got Bean over here as a pretty decent D-Man. Stronger on D than O, but CBJ aren’t acquiring him to anchor their top pair.

Bean is a RFA so this trade is all about him wanting more than they think he’s worth. The Canes have a history of shipping out RFAs they think are asking too much, though the last time they had two of them in the same year they traded them for Dougie Hamilton, Micheal Ferland and the rights to Adam Fox. They didn’t do quite as well this year.

Seattle be missing so many oppertunities its just sad

they could have got

a 3rd for Zadorov
a 2nd for Bean

plus they could have taken on bad contracts like the Houston Coyotes did to get more assets

so far Francis has shown he aint the guy for the job
