Rangers fans dreams till yesterday: "Hey, Buchnevich will be traded to give us EICHEL.
Rangers fans reality today: "Buchnevich was traded and we get...SAMY BLAIS.".

Nedeljkovic, Gostisbehere, Ristolainen, and now Buchnevich...this is the year of lopsided trades.

Whoa! Some of the value in these trades.... maybe Bracco and a 2nd for Hamilton would have worked afterall.

If this was to make room for Eichel, fine. If not, Sather is pulling the strings and we will be watching a horrible team where Goodrow is 2C with Ryan Reaves on his RW in no time.

NYR GM is terrible now. Biggest regret of this century was getting rid of their old one.

Unless Drury flips Blais in a trade for another, far better player in the coming days, this is a colossal screw up.

I am absolutely shattered. Buch was one of my favorite players. The only way this makes sense is if we’re going after Eichel.

I’m 100% done trying to figure out players values. I genuinely don’t get it. Awesome deal for St. Louis...gotta think a bigger move is coming for NYR (Eichel).

I mean, I want to say it isn’t as bad as people are making it out to be… but the NYR just gave away a top 6 forward in his prime for a 2nd and a top 9 forward at best. I like Blais’ game, but St Louis just got a big upgrade.

Doug Armstrong is a wizard. That is the only explanation at this point. He's absolutely fleeced at least four different teams now.

Some examples:
Ryan Reaves for Oskar Sundqvist and a 1st from the Pens
Lehtera and some picks for Brayden Schenn from the Flyers
Some uselees junk for Ryan O'Reilly from the Sabres
And now Samuel Blais and a pick for Pavel Buchnevich from the Rangers

NYR should never have extended Kreider. That contract is the root cause of this trade. Too much money spent on middle six Wingers is not a recipe for success. Buch is better than Kreider, and everyone knows it. But, there's no way the Rangers could've extricated themselves from the Kreider contract without taking a huge loss. This was their only move, after signing Goodrow, of course.

I voted "Fair Deal."

Obviously, STL gets the best player, but they still have to pay him. If he's looking for 6M+ AAV, good luck. But, the Rangers got exactly what they wanted: Goodrow at half the price. I'm not saying it was a smart move, but they clearly had a game plan and executed it well. It's the Kreider contract that'll haunt this team. Buch over Kreider all day. Dude goes M.I.A. for 5-10 games at a time.

There is no way you can rationalize this as a good trade. eichel or not.
