The fact that Jim Benning is still a NHL GM baffles me. Unfortunately, as witty and fun as some of these moves are, I don't think Benning has the foresight to do any of that beyond resigning Pettersson and Hughes to bridge deals, something that is entirely Benning's fault by the way.

Benning is probably going to trade the 9OA with a cap dump to move back in the draft (or out of the first round entirely), and sign another bad contract. I do not have a good feeling about the next week.....

If you will recall, the Leafs (stupidly) traded Marleau and the remaining of bad contract to Carolina for their 1st (I believe that was 13th overall), so that gives you a bit of a comp idea what the Canucks might be in for to move on from someone like Loui Erickson. If they weren't division rivals, I think such a deal with Seattle would have already happened.

2 bad contracts, a buyout candidate with a looming legal battle for a 1st line forward under 30 and the Sharks are the ones adding a 2nd here? That's ridiculously bad.

I think the Sharks org will work things out with Evander, there was only one report that Kane was having issues in the room and the validity of said report is dubious on top of the fact that Servalli had ZERO details to offer, sounds like pure conjecture to me. Regardless we could do so much better for one of the best power forwards in the game on a fair contract.

A rumor still. Better yet, at the end of the year interviews.

The deal with Carolina included the guarantee to buy Marleau out - which caused a 2 year cap hit for Carolina - Hence the cost of a high 1st.

He's a journalist looking for clicks. He has been wrong before and will be wrong again. Personally i think he's full of poop as no one else has come out to say anything about it so somehow he is the only one who knows as the Sharks org under WIlson is well known to be extremely tight-lipped.

Frank has nailed the offseason thus far though so I am hesitant to question him. Kurz and Sheng both also said they'd heard rumblings as well. That said, I agree that I think they find a way to make amends and keep him around. Given DW's stated need for guys that play a men's game, Kane is one of those on the roster that does so. Barring a fair value or better deal, think Kane is back next year. It won't be for a cap dump and even worse problem child like this deal laid out assuredly.
