That's laughable. It doesn't have to be Bernier, any non-deluded backup will do.

So help me god if Toronto trades their top RHD prospect to the Canes after all the "Pesce for Nylander" ACGMs over the years

Oh I would laugh so hard....

Anyway, it's Nylander + for Pesce don't you know. No one wants that soft European.

I would be shocked if Svechnikov goes for an 8 year contract below 9 million. I think he bets on himself and takes a bridge deal to show what he can really do in this league and then looks for the big pay day. A bridge is probably close to Barzal number depending on the term

I like those trades - good work. Not sure how the other sides feel about them in terms of value but should be close imo.

Think Svech bridges instead of long term tho. Also don’t think Jarvis is quite ready, maybe Bokk gets a shot tho? Can re-sign McGinn and then I’d also hope for an upgrade over Hakanpaa, especially if he’s playing on his offside.

Waddell ruled out a bridge. That would leave them bringing Aho, Teravainen, Pesce and Svechnikov back at the same time.

2 of the trades I've seen from other sides. I'm unsure on the Schmidt trade.

I like McGinn... but I just prefer Jarvis' upside. Also, Jarvis is the most NHL ready prospect we have, regardless of position. Dude was over a PPG in 2 leagues last year.

Saw reports that he’s going back to OHL or CHL or wherever he plays. He’s not even eligible to go to the AHL next year based on age rules so he’d have to make the team right out of the gate and stick with the team. I’d bet they take it a bit slower with him and give it one more year. Also slides his ELC an extra year which could be huge.

WHL, his junior team is Portland.

He's eligible to play in the big leagues. All he needs to do is impress Rod, he's ready for the NHL. He was over a PPG in the AHL last year...

He's too good for the WHL. He's not gonna develop anymore down there. He needs professional ice time. Why not give him that chance?

It makes sense, I just think it puts both of them in a difficult spot where fans will give them **** for it no matter what they do.

I agree with you there. I’m all for giving him the chance but I don’t want the team to drop him on the fourth line and play him 7 min a game either bc he’s young snd they don’t trust him. If he gets a shot it’s got to be legit.

My concern is - if it’s clear he needs more time, idk what the rules are since he’s not eligible for AHL this year based on age and service time there from last year. Ideally he could go play in the AHL next year imo.

Bean would also be your best D man not named Quinn Hughes... which is why this deal works. The cap is the same, and Vancouver actually get the contract with less term

Exactly... Svechnikov won't be getting a bridge, so we'll see what comes of it. It'll be 5 or 8 years.
