Description
Assumptions
1) Rumors Lou wants to bring in both Suter and Parise
2) Talks progressing with Palmieri in the right direction
3) Friedman thought teams would call on Beau depending on Isles other plans
4) Still want a big fish

How'd the team turn out? I think they're vastly improved and still have some wiggle room on cap to hopefully not carry over any performance bonuses

    Detroit takes that deal.
I think isles add to the blues a little bit for the retain.
Maybe the wings retain for a small improvement on that package, I feel it's a nice return but could be a bit of an overpay.
But I really like this team and I'm not an islanders fan.

Only thing that I see might be an issue is suter is getting alot of attention, might not be enough money. But maybe if Parise signs there and the chance of winning I could see it.

No no no to the blues deal. Tarasenko has basically no value whatsoever. Id trade bellows for him 1 for 1 not much more. The 1.5 retention doesnt move the needle that much.

Blues take that, probably would add a 2nd going to NY to make it a bit more even, Beau is a stud and Tarasenko is a 50/50 between an average NHLer or superstar for the next several years

Bellows has less than zero value. Tarasenko has value, question is fitting in the cap. In which case, Blues could potentially retain or get a third team involved to take on cap space but they would require something. Beau, while good, is not a top line talent and is not worth Tarasenko on his own. Personally, given the recent history this trade works for both.

Beau isn't really a "stud". He's a good player and could help out the 2nd line, but has never hit 40 points. He likely would have, but has had injury issues. To me this deal is fair given Tarasenko's recent history. But if medical doctors (not the Blues) say he's good to go then I believe it. He showed he still has it in game 4 last year.

He's not under normal circumstances. The reason why it works here is because of Tarasenko's recent history. But worth noting 3rd party doctors have said he's 100% ready to go.

Tarasenko scored at a 14 goal pace last year after the 3rd surgery when he was healthy. Thats wont even get beaus skates.

But that was also without him being in training camp. It is worth mentioning they were both on pace for 48 points over the course of an entire season, and was Tarasenko without training camp and missing time with other injuries. Say what you want about Beau, but he's a second line talent at best whereas Tarasenko, when healthy/proper training camp, is one of the premier snipers in the league. Last season was Beau's best on a PPG basis and it was the same as an unhealthy Tarasenko.

Hahaha bc you know that the issue was a lack of training camp. And might i remind you that training camps last year were very limited and restricted. And then we turn to the fact that beau is better than tarasenko in every category besides nothing rn. If tarasenko gets back to form he'll be a better goal scorer and thats it. But thats a big if considering this past season and the fact that hes always injured.

They were restricted, and Tarasenko had 0 training camp time. But yes, a lack of training camp can make a huge difference. Look at Nylander after he sat out of training camp looking for his contract. He looked horrible up until the last month of the season. Training camp is where players build chemistry with teammates, get their skating legs back, and extensive strength and endurance training for the upcoming season.

And therefore what he had 4 goals in 24 games. Hes nowhere close to beau rn i hate to break it to you. It sucks that the blues have to deal him when his values at an all time low but thats reality.

His value at a low is close to Beau who is just a slightly better version of Lehkonen in Montreal. Again, a lack of training camp hurts a player. He didn't have one as he was still rehabbing. Not hard to figure this one out. Also worth mentioning that he scored 3 less goals than Beau in the playoffs in 15 less games. He clearly would have surpassed him if they kept going. Beau is a fine player, but again, second line talent at his best.

Beau's metrics are borderline elite over the last 3 years, he would have been 3rd in total value on the blues last year behind Faulk and O'Reilly. The blues would jump at the opportunity of a 1 for 1 deal at Vladdy's current value. Beau was just slightly less valuable than Landeskog was last year. If you can snag him, that takes pressure off having to give 7 years 63 Million to Gabe, and the blues will be able to address another 2nd line LW or LD

He also plays in a system that is very kind to metrics...Beau is a fine player and I'd like to have him and do think 1 for 1 for Tarasenko right now is an equal trade given Tarasenko's uncertainty. But Beau is not an elite player, he's a good player though that would be great in our middle 6.
