marner has more value then Tkachuk and your forgetting liljegren and a 2nd is in this deal

Why would Marner have more value than Tkachuk, Tkachuk is just as strong defensively, nearly as good offensively, cost less and has intangibles. Liljegren and the 2nd make up for Rielly being a pending UFA and Hanifin being cheaper.

Marner is better defensively and is way better then Tkachuk offensively. Sure he costs less but for only 1 more year and will probably want at least 8mil or more. Also Rielly being a pending UFA = Hanifins horrid contract and Liljegren + 2nd makes the value way on the flames side

He's not better defensively though, Tkachuk has an elite 2-way game. He's just not a regular on the PK due to his footspeed, but 5v5 Tkachuk is statistically better than Marner.

Offensively is pretty hard to judge when Marner has gotten to 0lay with Matthews while Tkachuk has spent most of his career beside Backlund. Both are excellent playmakers though and I think Tkachuk could definitely put up 90 feeding Matthews.

Where did you determine Hanifin has a horrid contract? Especially after a break out season. You do realize he's only 24 right? Post Sutter when Hanifin was actually given the special tea.s time he rightfully earned he out produced Rielly. Thats around 30 games remaining so its a decent sample size too. Hanifin is also obvious better defensively too
