You cannot say that with outright confidence knowing this management. They just gave up Jones and a maybe second for Keith which forced them to lose Larsson. They're actively pursuing bad players or overpaying decent ones (Hall barely makes more than Hyman will and is literally twice the player). Stuff of nightmares.

Nothing about acquiring Keith caused them to lose Larsson. They've been negotiating with Larsson for months and even offered him 5 years - he didn't leave because of money and I don't think Keith did anything to piss him off.

The Oilers went from being on the cusp of signing Larsson to him walking away for less than what Holland offered (I think Edmonton went as high as $4.25M) in a matter of weeks. The only thing that's happened between yesterday and then was the Keith trade.

Rampant speculation but my gut feeling is Larsson felt betrayed and completely disinterested in having to drag Keith's broken corpse around the ice for the next two seasons. It was a horrible trade and everyone beyond the Oilers management can see that: I don't believe that excludes the players. Larsson had a chance to jump ship because the Oilers are again aimless. I fully believe we lost Adamn to that trade. Without a doubt.
