rangers pass on the strome trade. He is definitely worth more than moving from 10-15

OTT declines, strome is a mediocre 3c getting stats inflated by playing with panarin not worth dropping in the draft for.

Why the Ottawa trade? NYR fan here and they're already short up the middle of the ice. Idt moving up 5 spots is worth our 2C. I guarantee neither does Drury

Hard disagree. Its 5 spots in a chaotic draft. Strome with 2.25M retained is a nice trade piece. I think OTT could retain 50% on that and flip him for a late first. A team would definitely spend a late 1st for 1year of R.Strome @ 1.2M

Stuck in 2019, I see. Remind me again when Strome played his best hockey in 2021? (Hint: Panarin was on leave of absence)

The Senators aren’t moving #10, somebody reported it.

And Strome is worth WAY more than moving up five spots in the draft (that itself just costs a 3rd)

Its a 12 player draft and we are sitting in 15. I would like to get into the top 10. Also, I think Chytil is ready to play with some really talented wings. Give him the top 6 spot and see if he can make it happen.

Moving up 5 spots in the middle of the draft vs moving into the top 10 from 15 have wildly different costs my man.

According to NaturalStatTrick.com’s data, the Strome has spent 1,182 minutes at five-on-five alongside Panarin. When a player’s most predominant linemate is such a dynamic and skilled talent, that player’s production will inevitably spike. Strome’s production splits reflect this.

With Panarin and Strome on the ice together, the Rangers generated 50.8-percent of the shots, 52.3-percent of the shots on goal, 54.2-percent of the expected goals and 53.2-percent of the scoring chances. When Strome played away from Panarin, the Rangers only generated 45.0-percent of the shots, 45.8-percent of the shots on goal, 48.7-percent of the expected goals and 44.8-percent of the scoring chances.

There is a noticeable and consequential difference.

Moving up at the draft costs a bit more than that.

A 3rd moves you up one spot (consider Ottawa offering a 3rd to move from 12 to 11 for Logan Brown in 2016

Or if you want a rangers example, in 2018 you moved up 4 spots at the cost of a 2nd, but that was from 26 to 22... its gets more expensive as you move up the draft order.

To move up 5 to 10, it would normally cost a late 1st round pick

Okay yeh that’s true. But 15 to 10 costs about a 2nd.

Strome is still more than that.

I said take a look at Ryan Strome’s individual impact with the Rangers, not Artemi Panarin’s.
