If Landy would take that contract, the Avs would have already signed him.

They’re asking him to take less than Mack

Hamilton is 100% gone, And try more like 7 x $8,500,000 to sign Gabriel Landeskog as there's going to be major bidders on him if he makes it to free agency.

That's a risky contract for Nedeljkovic.

It’s what he’s gonna get. It shouldn’t matter how long the term is, as long as the AAV is below 4 with this defence in front of him, he should be alright.

Scratches are whatever. Cap only applies to the 20 that take the ice. Gardiner is hurt…

And what do you mean underpaid stars? This is more than Svechnikov is asking for and what Dougie was asking for….

False.

That’s what Fridge said on 31 thoughts. They went in at less than Macks deal and he was offended by how low the went.

Cap applies to entire roster, whether its 23 players, 20 players, 15 players (as Devils once had briefly).
Does not matter who is on ice.

Gardiner is "hurt" but okay

Landeskog gets more, Hamilton gets more

There's a difference between what they went in at (slightly more than RNH's deal) and what they're at now.

Cap only applies to the 20 on the ice. As long as they are below the cap, then it doesn't matter if you have 20 men, 23 men... deadline cap space does. But a legal lineup only needs 20 guys.

Gardiner is hurt, his back gaveout last year. It's why he only played 1 game after his injury.

Hamilton doesn't get more, that's literally his ask. Landeskog might, but not from Carolina

It sounds like they went in too low and hurt Landeskog... Landeskog went in apparently using Panarin as a comparable and there's just too much discrepancy between them is what I understand. They've made no progress, that much was stated by Landeskog himself

The cap applies to whomever is on the roster, not who is on the ice.
Many players have to pass thru waivers to not get counted against cap.

And the max is 20 guys, you can have less. And you can have no scratches.
The Devils dressed 15 guys once a few years ago because they were cap-crunched (Lou days).
9 forwards, 5 d-men, no back-up goalie.

You're operating off of information that came out last week. Friedman said earlier this week that emotions have calmed and the fact that he didn't sign in Seattle is a testament to that. They were the only other team that could offer him 8 years. The Avs also still have a week before other teams can talk to him, so there's plenty of time. The door hasn't closed.

As for using Panarin as a comparable, it's laughable. If a team wants to pay Landy $9-10 million for 50ish points, go for it.

Players always use comparables that are high to aim for something in the middle. If you take the 10 mil he was supposedly asking for and the roughly 6 mil Colorado were offering, the middle ground is about 8 mil. That's probably what he's aiming for.

That's because there were at the cieling. The CBA says you have to ICE a team under the cap. This 20 man unit it. If you want to carry a scratch or two, that's fine, but you can still ice this 20 man team with no issues is my point.

It certainly could be, but as a 28-year old, I think he values the security that comes with term. Imagine he wants 7-8 years, which is likely the hold-up.

Oh apparently the term is another issue entirely, but he's not going to get the money he wants at the term he wants in this market with a flat cap.

Which is the main issue. Everyone's been dunking on Sakic, but I think it's really Landy and his camp that need to come back to earth. All of his comparables have signed for $6 million or less.

I think he's entitled to ask for more $ than 6 seeing as he is both the Avalanche captain and a point per game player but he would likely have to sacrifice term to get that done.

Over their careers:
Hall goals per game: 0.34 in 680 games
Landy: 0.32 in 687 games

I value his leadership just like everyone else, but is that leadership and the defense worth $2 million/year more than Hall? Not sure about that.
