Description
Word is that Seattle takes Donny. Sacrificing one year of Bura - who is not in the future plans for the Avs - gets you the space and asset to get Reinhart; Avs seem to have no love for Bowers and the 1st is probably necessary to get Buffalo to bite. Newhook gets experience at LW before he takes the reins at 2C after Naz leaves. It's still conceivable the Avs trade JTC but I left him on the team for this exercise. Word is that Maltsev plays C but you could put JTC (or a replacement) at 4C and put him on wing, too. Suter signs cheap to chase a Cup and Sammy gets someone bigger to play with. Sam played RD a fair amount this year so it shouldn't be a problem.

I think the Landeskog contract is fair. But He rejected a 7x7 so I think he won't sign for that. I like the Reinhart idea plus the rest overall. He scored 25 goals this season without Eichel for the most part. he is a 30 goal 60-70+ point playuer. Im super high on him. Honestly he could have signed for 7 years he is that good.

Looks good. I think Suter would cost a bit more though, they might have to move Compher and bring in a replacement bottom 6 vet to get that extra cap space

There is the possibility all he's trying to get out of it is that 8th year but I think the $7.5 can get it done, maybe less with the 8th year but it's risky for the Avs. I also believe the terms and structure of the deal are also a sticking point; things like signing bonus, trade protection, that sort of thing.

I feel like Suter has made his money and now, if he wants to win a Cup, is going to need to sign a super-cheap deal. JTC is one of those guys I'd like to see traded for a better bottom six asset but that is tough sledding

Landeskog rejected 7x7 thinking that Seattle would give him a big payday, but Francis said "nah, we're good thanks". Sakic called Landeskog's bluff by leaving him exposed, and now he'll be back at the negotiating table with Sakic.

That's definitely the hope but he might think he can get more from a team like St Louis who is said to want him in a bad way or LA, who has the space but you'd think they wouldn't want to overpay the way they did with Doughty.

If Landeskog wants to go play on an aging team who barely made the playoffs ahead of Arizona and then got swept by Colorado for an extra $1m instead of chasing cups as captain of a cup favourite then best of luck to him.

Yeah, I'm not sure why he'd want to leave such a good situation. I imagine some of it is about "respect" and some of it is probably forcing Joe to make his "best offer" (give the 8th year, up the AAV, give more SB money, all of the above). However, there has also been talk of him going to a team like LA who does have the space and a young team that could be good in a year or two so this may not all be drama.
