Once again Cernak isn't available, And fat chance of Tyler Johnson waiving for Buffalo. And Beniers and Power stay at Michigan and become UFAs in 3 years.

You’re overpaying in every trade. Keep Jokiharju and Björk, there’s no reason to hand the other teams anything.

The NHL will close the college free agent loophole before that ever happens. You are an idiot if you think otherwise. But, you’re probably right about Tyler Johnson.

LMFAO Yeah good luck thinking the NHL will close the college free agent loophole, It's been in existence for ages. You can't force a player that gets a 4 year degree to stay with a team that drafts them. They have every right to test free agency. That's the problem you've when you draft college bound players.

With any luck, Montreal will top that offer and get Ristolainen.

Just mute them. Their comments are only about where players will and won’t play like he knows them all personally.

College players with no professional experience, or junior players with no professional experience have not earned the right to be free agents just because they don’t like the team drafted them. Any player you draft should only be allowed to become a free agent if the team that drafts them does not attempt to sign them. Drafted players Who refuse to sign with the team that drafts them should be treated like restricted free agents because they have not earned the right to be unrestricted free agents. If a team drafts a player and doesn’t try to sign them then it should be fine that another team signs them as an unrestricted free agent because the team that drafted them did not extend a qualifying offer. That’s all I’m looking for. In terms of compensation for signing your drafted prospect that refused to sign with you after making a qualifying contract offer, I suppose it should be the team that signs that player needs to give up a draft pick from the same round used to draft the player. Does that really sound unreasonable?

Yeah well tell that the Keith Petruzzelli Red Wings Goalie prospect because he's 100% gone and that's his option.

As a Sabres fan all I need to mention are the names Jimmy Vesey and Cal Peterson. There are a ton of players who have exploited this loophole rather unfairly. You’re not a professional, you haven’t earned the service time, you don’t have the right to be an unrestricted free agent just because you don’t like the team that drafted you. That team spend an asset to acquire your rights and will get nothing for putting faith in you because you don’t want to play for them? It just seems wrong.

For starters we get hosed in the Eichel trade so no thank you.

The Tampa trade is ok but it seems as if Tampa is protecting Cernak.

In regards to Beniers, if drafted #1, he will be a Sabres player regardless. The NHL will close the loophole due to the negative press it would create. In large part because it would literally crush the college draft route in a day because no team will be willing to risk higher picks on college players.
