Landeskog and Larsson

Description
Used evolving hockey's contract projection of ~$8.8M × 7 years as a reference for Landeskog.

Brought in Larrson as he seems like a Bergevin type of defenseman. A cool fact that he and Landeskog went in the same draft years ago, 2nd and 4th overall. Could form a good pair with Norlinder potentially.

Signed a couple cheap Quebec players to round out the roster, while also leaving enough room for Weber to be activated off IR if necessary (I'm assuming MTL will know this before free agency opens... so potentially more money to play with in that case).

Larsson is staying in EDM for 3.9X4
Leskinen is not coming back he signed a two years contract in the KHL
This is a horrid contract for Landeskog
Might be worse than the Gallagher one

Like you comment on Landeskog. Just because a player wants 9m, doesn't mean any team should pay him that . And to give him 7 years to take him to age 35. Yea I wonder about 6 years about for Gallagher

I have no idea what Landeskog wants. All I know is evolving hockey projects he will get $8.8M × 7 years...

Landeskog and Gallagher are on totally different levels, the comparison is ridiculous. Gallagher can't play PP, and he can't play PK. He can only average ~ 15 to 16 minutes a game and be effective, meanwhile Landeskog is a top line talent that can play 20 minutes a game. At 6'1", he is one of the stronger wingers in the game and that would fit well with Suzuki and Caufield.

I'm assuming if you guys are arguing Landeskog isn't worth $9M then you are saying MTL can sign him for less?

You guys literally paid Tavares $11M × 7... just saying.

I actually didn't mind the Tavares contract. Fair value at the time. What has happened in the past few years is that RFAs are getting close to UFA money so generally there is less cap to be spread around.
Just before Covid the NHL announced the cap for 20/21 would be abut 86m, so let' say's with no Covid 90m in 21/22. Tavares and some of those pre Covid long term signings sure look pricey now at 81.5m cap.
No, I don't think Landeskog is good value at 10% of a teams cap.

I agree, I would do the Tavares move every time given the chance... it was reported he turned down more money to go to Toronto too. I know a lot of people that say it is a bad contract but I disagree.

The market will dictate what Landeskog gets, the purpose of this team is just to show that MTL does have the cap space to acquire him, if they can do it for anything less than $9M I would.
