We just protected him. And then you send him to VAN for a 2nd and then spend 2.5 million MORE for a worse player....

Adam Larsson is literally a top 5right handed defensive defenceman in the league. His analytics are insane for someone who plays in Edmonton. I don't think you watch him enough

I would also take Larsson over Holl everyday of the week. But for some reason Leafs management does not believe that Dermott or Sandin can fill his spot or they can sign his replacement, ie Larsson etc. It sucks but I really don’t foresee any drastic changes.

IMO if Kerfoot somehow gets selected over McCann you could see them resign Hyman.

I think Kerfoot is the pick and Hyman aint back. Rumour has it he already getting offers over 6million AAV. They believe in Sandin and they know Dermott has value . Dermott was almost traded for Mackenzie Weegar last year.

It was smart going 4-4-1 as they force Seattle's hand.

Oh, no doubt he can get more on the open market. I think the max the Leafs can go is 6 years at 5mil. And with Kerfoot’s salary off the books, that is attainable.

As for the 8 total skates, completely disagree. Protecting Holl over McCann and Kerfoot was a mistake. But totally cool to agree disagree on that one.

It makes a lot of sense to expose Kerfoot over Holl.
Holl for the past two seasons has put up average analyitics against the BEST competition in the NHL getting majority DZ starts. Not only has Larsson never had to consistently face 1st line competition he would come at a higher price on the market. The reason is so expensive and was protected is he is very valuable, for the price of 2 million he is IMPOSSIBLE to replace. Compared to Kerfoot, you can find multiple replacements around the same and price and cheaper.

I would disagree with that. I would agree it doesn’t have to be Larsson but you can’t tell me Dermott or even Sandin playing with Muzzin couldn’t give you the same value that Holl provides.

Holl wasn't even a defenceman in the NHL until he was 27 years old. Dermott is 24 years old and has played 208 career NHL games.

Since he came to Toronto, Jake Muzzin has only played 90 5v5 minutes with Travis Dermott. Goals when they're on the ice together: 7-0 Leafs. Incredible small sample size yes. But still, can’t tell me Travis couldn’t do what Justin does.
