If Drouin is playing, that is an absolutely brutal trade for the habs. If he isn’t, including him benefits neither team.

If drouin is healthy, the islanders still wouldn’t do it. Makes no sense

Can you just explain why the islanders would do this? and why they wouldn't just give beauvillier this contract themselves?

So the Islanders, a team with cap concerns if not outright problems, and Pelech and Sorokin to re-sign, would acquire a guy with a $5.5 million cap hit whose contract expires in two years in exchange for a guy under team control for at least three more years who is cheaper?

i would argue the islanders have no cap concerns, especially with Eberle or bailey most likely going to seattle.

Just going to put this out there since everyone want Beau. It would take Nylander + 1st 2022 + Pohling to land Beauvillier and besides that I doubt he is even available unless Isle get Landeskog.

a late 1st in an awful draft - habs fans think they’re entitled to Beauvillier because he was born in MTL 😭. Here we’ll give you a player who might not even play and a late 1st.

It ain't happen 'til it happen.

You have $10.8 million in cap space after allowing for bonuses, with Beauvillier plus another forward and Pelech plus another defenseman plus Sorokin to sign. You may not have problems, but you certainly have concerns even if Bailey or Eberle goes to Seattle, which they may not.

in MTL's mind negotiations for beau start with a thank you card. if hes not worth more than a 1st 3rd and someone who has no value to NYI why is he on the top line lmaoooooo

They still don’t grasp the concept that fair value doesn’t get you the isles best winger when they’re in a win now window.

Hey, it’s Lou Lamiorello, so who knows?

I was just looking at it from a Montréal POV though.

Lou lamoriello would trade a two way physical winger for a soft perimeter player?

I’m saying that Lou does some crazy things, especially when it comes to young players. And like I said before, if Drouin is actually playing there’s no chance the habs would trade him for Beauvillier. He’s probably more valued by the Islanders than the habs.

I don’t know what crazy things youre talking about. Beauvillier is pretty much a vet, he’s played 5 years in the NHL. Lou just traded his 2nd oldest defenseman so he can lock up a much young one long term.

Mostly taking about how Toews, Ho-Sang, Bellows, and Wahlstrom were/are being handled. And how much he’ll do to keep old 4th liners like Martin, Komarov, Greene, and Clutterbuck.

Toews was the only one, and he wasn’t young. I was always a fan of ho-sang but two GMs and 2 different coaches in the SHL wanted nothing to do with him. There’s something more we don’t know about. What has Lou done to bellows + wahlstrom?
