My view on high 1st line attack

Description
I pick a various group of players set to provide choices and options in terms of who I'm playing and have the ability of putting up some big players in front of the opposing teams.

As this team would bring me over the cap space, I also tought about trade possibilities in order to get picks to establish my future.

While van Riemsdy is a great player, if I can trade him out on Draft day to Boston for their first pick and future picks, I think they would pay the price since they over paid for Hall. They need help on the wing and he's a player to provide this.

Bailey could be moved out in order to get another first pick, NJ aren't giving up much since they are giving away the 29th overall, and some future picks which they have plenty of next year. They get a player who can play hard, put up points, and isn't intimidated in the playoffs.

I send a few payers downs to the AHL and next year I get 26M$ in cap space to resign those that offered a huge help to the team or UFAs that become available.

My core will still be in place, and ready to go for another year minimum (Tarasenko has 2 yrs of contract including this year, but I have Land and Gourde/Wennberg set in place.

The price controversy, I'd call it.. Put him on LITR if need be for half the season where I would save 5M$ and be able to go with Smith and DeSmith or trade or sign another Goalie for the time being. If you get a new Price for the playoffs, you get a run for the cup.

JVR won't fetch a 1st without heavy retention, and NJD isn't the team to be trading away 1sts right now for 31 year old forwards.

Rumor is that the Avs have already offered 8 x $8 to Landy, which he rejected so good luck with that... DNVR confirmed that his $9-10 million ask is accurate.

Well.. as you can see.. I have the cap space for it. Also, he might just be p**sed off that talks have not gone forward. Funny enough, most Avs fans tell me he's staying in Colorado for 7-7.5M$ because he wants to stay and will give a discount. Also, I don't see anything about him turning down a 8X8 offer anyhwhere? Only that they are far apart.

It's all about egos in sports, less players that have that "link" to their teams today, all wil say "I want to stay a [INSERT TEAM NAME] for a long time..." and most wil think "He's staying for way less money 'cause he likes it here!" .. Not the case for 99% of the players.. Even here in MTL country people think Danault will stay for what he's actually worth. He wants 5-5.5M$ .. that's over paying by more than a million per year.

Seattle definitely has the cap space for it, it's just a question of whether or not you want to play a 55 point/year player $9-10 million. If you do, great, go for it. That's too much IMO. His nearest comps are Kreider ($6.5m) and Anders Lee ($7m). The DNVR podcast has mentioned that he's declined an 8-year deal in the $7.5-8 neighborhood.

K.. Don't know the DNVR Podcast.. If they are actual sports journalists then they may have gotten that info, but haven't seen anthing in the actual sport media at this time. I remember talks about somethnig in the 7M$ figure, but nothing past that 7.5M$/yr. Most were talking about 5 to 6 years which would make sense. MackKinnon should get the bigger prize if Sakic views him as the face of the franchise .. But not getting Land back witht he Avs is understandable with MackK needing the contract and Makar who needs to stay. At the end, Cap Space is what makes the most interesting trades out there every 2-3 years.

Yeah like you said, it's all about if they want to spend that for him, but remeber for the last three years, he's been putting up 1.02; 0.81 and 0.96 pts per game. Yes, he's playing with that line, but if you can get Gourde/Wennberg and Tarasenko on a line with him, you'll be keeping that 0.80+ average for at least another 2-3 years. That's hard to come by and comes woth a price.

Seattle are also looking to sell tickets, so that's why I see them picking up Price, Landeskog, Tarasenko, Shattenkirk and Giordano. For a team to get such a line up, they need to pick top 5 for 5 to 6 years nowadays., They have such a window of opportunity. Even Vegas didn't have these types of players available, they mostly had 2nd to 4th liners.. Fleury was the big pick, they just suprised everyone with their depth and playing style. Seattle not only have young players to pick from, but can have a real 2 first line and top 4 Dmen from the get go. Big issue is gonna be the cap space.
