Isles Land Landeskog

Description
This is my hypothetical scenario if the Isles were to land a big fish in Landeskog. His asking price in the open market is 9-10 million AAV, and this team mainly serves as a potential blueprint for how the Isles would be able to snag him, in addition to retaining the RFAs, re-signing Cizikas, and getting a responsible defensive defenseman in McCabe. I believe the contracts are fair, with maybe the exception of McCabe’s hypothetical deal needing work. Please don’t look too hard at the individual trades, as they are merely there to show which contracts would need to be discarded in order to make this work.

    Détails additionnels:
This trade can be done with any interested team, not necessarily Buffalo. Taking on a $3 million dollar hit for one year in Komarov, who is a serviceable 4th liner for a rebuilding team, is likely worth at least two years of a potential Middle 6 player in Bellows.

    Détails additionnels:
Much like with the trade above, this is meant to show which contracts need to be shed in order to make the main roster cap compliant. This deal merely illustrates that dumping Hickey’s contract would likely include minor draft capital as he is only making $2.5 million and is a UFA following the season.

To much money in my opinion but someone likely does it.

I agree. Personally I think 8.5 should be the absolute max, but this is showing that the Isles can put in a competitive offer.

Rumors are that he already declined an 8 x $8 million offer from the Avs, so someone's gonna have to pay up. No idea who though, and I can't see it being the Isles. Pelech probably makes more than that, and then you have to extend Pulock the following year.

I’m just saying personally I think he’s worth 8.5 million but wouldn’t be upset if he got paid more. He’ll take the best offer AAV wise and if no one gives him his 10+ mil mega deal then a 9-9.5 AAV is what will get it done. Additionally, Pelech’s value is quite similar to Slavin who makes 5.5 million, in that they both are elite defensive defenseman with some ability to put up a few points. I think 6 million is the highest Pelech gets.

I think 8 million is the highest I'd go. He's very similar to Kreider and Lee, and relies heavily on the physical part of his game. As he ages, that'll become an issue. He's trying to get Rantanen money, and as much as I love him as an Av, he's not worth that.

And that's fair, I'm just saying that signing Landy to a $9 million deal starts tightening things up in a hurry. Hence why the Avs haven't done that.

Reasonable take for sure. Personally, I’d rather see the Isles re-sign Palmieri and go for a defenseman like Alec Martinez, but with all the buzz about Landeskog possibly not staying with the Avs, plus his short list of potential teams he’d sign with, I figured I’d see what the team might look like if Lou went for him.

I would say the biggest threats to sign him are Seattle, Los Angeles, Boston, and the Isles. No one else really has the cap space to give him what he wants.
