Obviously, all the trade that will surely happen can't be predicted to perfection, but this is more to see how good of a team Ron Francis can draft by taking some of the best player available or so from each team.
So here are my prediction, with some explanation for the notable selections:
Pick #1 - COL : Gabriel Landeskog (Seattle signs the Avalanche's captain to a 7-year, $9M AAV contract, names him team captain as their first selection to start off the expansion draft.)
Pick #2 - CHI : Nikita Zadorov (Seattle acquire Zadorov's RFA rights as their pick from Chicago and signs him to a 3-years, $3.5M AAV contract.)
Pick #3 - CBJ : Max Domi
Pick #4 - STL : Samuel Blais
Pick #5 - BOS : Jérémy Lauzon
Pick #6 - MTL : Carey Price (Despite the hip injury and the important cap hit, Seattle picks the world-class goaltender from Montreal in hopes that they can get this man a Cup, getting closer to where he's from.)
Pick #7 - VAN : Brandon Sutter (Seattle signs the Canucks' centerman to a 3-years, $2.5M AAV contract)
Pick #8 - WSH : Vitek Vanecek
Pick #9 - ARI : Antti Raanta (Seattle signs the Coyotes' goaltender to a 4-years, $3M AAV contract, in order to trade him for assets in the offseason as their pick from Arizona.)
Pick #10 - NJ : Will Butcher
Pick #11 - ANA : Hadyn Fleury
Pick #12 - CGY : Oliver Kylington (Seattle acquire Kylington's RFA rights as their pick from Calgary and signs him to a 2-years, $850K AAV contract. Calgary gives a 2022 3rd round pick in order that Seattle does not pick Mark Giordano.)
Pick #13 - PHI : James van Reimsdyk
Pick #14 - CAR : Steven Lorentz (Carolina gives a 1st and 3rd round pick from this year's draft in order that Seattle does not pick Jake Bean.)
Pick #15 - NYI : Josh Bailey
Pick #16 - WIN : Mason Appleton
Pick #17 - LA : Austin Wagner (Los Angeles gives a 2021 2nd and 2023 4th round pick in order that Seattle does not pick Kale Clague.)
Pick #18 - TB : Yanni Gourde
Pick #19 - TOR : Alexander Kerfoot
Pick #20 - EDM : Adam Larsson (Seattle signs the Oliers' defenseman to a 1-year, $3M contract as their pick from Edmonton.)
Pick #21 - FLA : Lucas Wallmark
Pick #22 - PIT : Zach Aston-Reese (Seattle acquire Aston-Reese's RFA rights as their pick from Pittsburgh and signs him to a 3-years, $2.75M AAV contract.)
Pick #23 - NSH : Calle Järnkrok
Pick #24 - NYR : Julien Gauthier
Pick #25 - DET : Troy Stecher
Pick #26 - BUF : Colin Miller
Pick #27 - OTT : Vitaly Abramov
Pick #28 - SJ : Jacob Middleton
Pick #29 - DAL : Jamie Oleksiak (Seattle signs the Stars' defenseman to a 2-years, $3.5M contract as their pick from Dallas.)
Pick #30 - MIN : Kappo Kähkönen
I'm not an expert, so I'm sorry for the messy contracts and some side deals that might not always make much sense.
*adjusted for Price & Domi on LTIR, and took out Virtanen*
Neither Domi or Price will be ready when the season starts. So both will be on LTIR. Jake Virtanen is under criminal investigation for assaulting a woman so more then likely his career is over.
