No. If we're going to trade for Marner it should be for a legit top 2 defenceman who is the same age or younger.

IF you make the Marner deal I would not go after Reinhart. I would take that money and go after Landeskog, Hamilton or Hall

Marner is 23 and already one of the top players in the league he would fit a retool

They are all older though and big ufa contracts almost never work out. Thats why I wanted Rienhart.

Kings don't give up nearly so much much. They can sign a great UFA and more Marner money, and not give up anything in a trade. That is one horrid overpay for Reinhart....just sigma a UFA.

I dunno. He'd probably bring them a step closer to a playoff position, so they'd be in for getting a lower pick. And if they managed to reach the playoffs he'd probably just disappear again.

I see only bad options here. Better just keep the picks and continue on building. Plus having 3 $10M+contracts is not wise if you ask me.

The kid has 25 points in 32 playoff games from age 19-23 That is not disappearing in the playoffs

The question is if you are retooling then you want a 23 year old who is the best playmaker in the NHL not named McDavid. If you are rebuilding that's a different story

That's far cry from what he can produce in regular season, and the kid has also 19 consecutive playoff games without any goals with no playoff series wins and is mostly made the scapegoat of all these losses, and for a clear reason.

He doesn't disappear in the playoffs in terms of becoming completely invisible, he disappears in terms of getting few steps down from the player he is when it, to be fair, doesn't really matter.
