Islanders have enough cap space, unless they are trying to land a huge UFA(Landeskog and even more unrealistically Ovechkin), they probably aren’t moving Komarov, especially because they can’t afford to trade away more picks. But it is a good value with neither factors considered.

Buffalo will not make that deal

Olofsson is too important and loosing in the same time Eichel and Olofsson is too big right now

Easy win for the wild if Adams actually make this

It's a complete rebuild, Olofsson won't be here by the end of it. He's not much more than a PP specialist and 3rd line player 5on5, unless a different team can change his 5 on 5 ability to become closer to elite, but that team is not Buffalo. This is a good trade for both sides

Saw a different islanders fan make this trade but with a 2nd and 4th instead so kinda rolled with that, if not I'm sure sabres will take some other cap dump and this can kinda be a placeholder

I'd like to switch Keane for Drury and Madden for Thomas but it's not bad.

I mean i'm not a sabres fan (neither a wild fan ) , but i Think that for both Eichel and Olofsson will make Buffalo even more a laughing stock. They basiccaly don't have choice to trade Eichel because he asked for it, but what the Sabres need I think it's a change of culture and some good pieces, not going into a 5th rebuild, it would cause only more problems.

The Sabres need another rebuild, if they don't rebuild and try to be competitive again it'll just delay the inevitable and set them back even more. They're screwed, the only fix is a rebuild. If they couldn't make the playoffs with Eichel, Reinhart, Ullmark, McCabe, and more, when losing them all, how are they going too?

Sabres need to build around guys like Olofsson, Cozens, Thompson, Dahlin, whoever they're going to pick first. We know that Eichel, Reinhart and Ristolainen are probably gone, but if you teared too much down, with the actual situation of Buffalo,. it might turn even worse

They need to build around Cozens, Dahlin, Mittelstadt, and *hopefully* Eklund, everything else is expendable. Olofsson and Thompson are not building blocks, they're complementary pieces that aren't that hard to find. Guys like Olofsson get traded every year, and Buffalo has a guy who plays Olofsson's role but better in the pipeline, (Jack Quinn). They really got no reason to hold onto Olofsson rn, if he's not traded now he will be next year

What? no, hard disagree. The original asking price for Eichel was 4 1st equivalents. That’s Adams coming into the market knowingly high and expecting to negotiate. That has since dropped to presumably 3 1st equivalents, per Friedman. Fiala is AT MINIMUM 1.5 1st equivalents. I’d argue 2. Olofsson isn’t enough of a difference maker to skew this. MIN passes on this easily.

They should wait one year at least

That's just a year wasted, if we wait a year he's going to ask for a big contract because why wouldn't he, especially when playing for Buffalo, which will decreased his trade value. Or trade him now when he has a very affordable contract, and maximize his value

I think he mis-spoke and meant to say "easy win for Adams if the Wild actually make it."
