If NSH also got a 1st/2nd out of the deal then I think it’s a good trade for both teams. As it stands, PHilI won. But I think NSH is happy to get Glass as well out of it. I thought Frost + Myers + 2nd was good value for a while now, so they basically got that but without the pick.

I think Nashville wins if you include the swap of Patrick for Glass. Sure Ellis is better right now but his contract won't age well in the back end.

Phillippe Myers is a solid defenceman.

Who knew Ellis could have been had this cheap.30 other Gm's hang your heads in shame. Poile must have an exit strategy to do a trade this dumb.

This is not a good trade for Nashville and an excellent one for the Flyers.

Fletcher definitely realized that there was a major hole in the defense when Niskanen retired, and Myers wasn't going to be able to properly step up into that position until this current Flyers team was well past its prime and playing for the lottery. Nolan Patrick has become a reclamation project which they've immediately passed onto Vegas.

Predators are looking to tear down but I definitely believe they should've leveraged more for Ellis. A first or second on top of this would've been great for them.

All the voted for Philadelphia lol ...

What some people don't realize is that just because you're a great player by NHL standards doesn't mean your cap hit doesn't count.

Nashville didn't just move a long-term bad contract, but even right now, they got Glass+Myers+4M-ish in cap space for Ryan Ellis.

I don't like Ellis suddenly stopping to play the game when he is supposed to. But given the price, we ll se what s going to happen. Still think Flyers should have traded for Jones.

they want to apparently extend ekholm and theres mutual interest

i get that but imo you still keep ellis.

their RHD depth is gonna be myers, fabbro, carrrier. unless 2/3 progress significantly. even if Ekholm left theyd still have Josi on that side. honestly philly could have thrown in 2nd and another prospect and id still think thats fair

In general Nashville's gm just gutted the team lets see what his plans are. Cause so far Ellis, and Arvidsson are gone with the potential for Duchene or Johansson. No idea what direction that team plans to go. Maybe they want Dougie Hamilton. Who knows.

Cap space/ and player costs cant be ignored, but Philly wins this trade on paper for now, how Glass and Myers progress could swing it back to Nashville quickly ( I think both have lots of untapped potential). Patrick is hard to judge, really hasnt played enough. Lots of opportunity in Vegas for him.

Including Glass in the trade helps to even it but still got to think that Philly won it.

Flyers really needed this one. If Ellis stays healthy next season, their blue line will be vastly improved.

Poile bought high and sold low on Ellis. Most people had him as a top 20 D before last season. Solid W for PHI, unless Ellis gets hurt.

When you see a strait line on this chart you know something went south.

Do you though?

According to Keith Jones today, Ellis has a torn psoas muscle in his back and has likely played his last NHL game.

Not exactly; Nashville managed to turn Myers into part of the trade for McDonaugh and Patrick into Glass, who actually contributed for them.

McDonagh is washed

Glass though while he looked good, he didn’t win the cup so the knights automatically win that trade

Most depressing trade in Flyers history. I thought we were gonna be competitive and we finally found Provy the right partner. Fast foward and Ellis plays 4 games, and finishes with the 2nd Highest PPG in Flyers history.. painful.

I'm biased but if Ellis/Couturier never got injured I think people look at the Flyers much differently the past 2 years.

I remember also having pretty high expectations for the flyers heading into 2021-2022, I figured they made an effort to improve the defence and was expecting a big bounce back year from Carter Hart and yeah injuries are the worst thing that’s ever existed in sports
