Bad trade by us... McCann will be missed. I am on the positive side excited to see what we can do with this cap space.

So assuming that Seattle makes the obvious choice and chooses McCann and ZAR in the expansion draft this deal is:

PIT
Giving up: Zach Aston-Reese
Getting: Filip Hållander + 2023 TOR 7th

TOR
Giving up: Filip Hållander + 2023 TOR 7th
Getting: Alex Kerfoot

In which case I’d say this is fair for the Penguins, and bad for Toronto. Also Seattle gets ZAR instead of Kerfoot, which is a win for them.

Be a good play too, to have some roster players from the same club/linemates etc (past-present) if it can be executed...

ESPN rank 12
Rinkside Rank 10
Dobber Tied for Rank 10

So 3 sources put it between 10-12

You can believe its not but 3 reputable sports sites all show the same thing

meh not really bad in a sense Toronto gains and loses nothing. Hallander was not playing for us till 2022 at the earliest and the 7th who cares. If Kerfoot continues to build off what he did in the playoffs we could see the guy who was in Colorado return. Plus get him better line mates and probs have a 40 point guy

So rather than pay a 1st and 3rd to protect Kerfoot from being taken Dubas only paid Hallander and a 7th. But if Kerfoot does get taken Leafs have insurance at 3c. So basically 3D chess at its best.

ESPN and HOCKEY is NOT reputable....
Dobber is exactly that - no bod ee
What is Rinkside...?

TML prospect rank is not based on any one, or all of those three [period].

Thanks, ur 1 for 3...
Elite is a good site, I like it and do think it's one of the best.
Dobber is clickbait...
AND ESPN is not reputable at all - do yourself a favour take it off your 'bookmarks' as it's way better site for figure skating, bowling, bull-riding, ballroom dancing & NASCAR than Hockey...

Dubas takes the W. Hallinder is a decent prospect, but damn.

For real though, it was Hallander and a 7th to keep both Kerfoot and Holl.

Personally would've preferred they go 7-3-1 in the draft.

It would've been a good trade after the expansion draft, but Dubas definitely paid to much to keep Kerfoot. Montreal loses a former 3rd round pick that likely tops out as a #5/#6 (if he even makes the NHL)

They might've came out the worst of all of the Canadian teams

I have Hållander pegged as a perennial bottom six player so I don't necessarily think he gave up a ton to keep the team together. Toronto was going to have to give up someone of quality, and I guess leveraging an alright prospect so that someone is another teams guy is worth it?

Well, now they get to keep Kerfoot. They didn't trade Hallander and a 7th for nothing.

Some people in this thread really incapable of understanding that the Leafs only lost a meh prospect and a throw away pick to essentially lose nobody to Seattle. Leafs are the only team (other than Vegas) to leave the expansion draft with the same roster they had at the end of last season.

That would be accomplishment if TML would lose against TBL in Finals 2021 with the "intact Team" but guess what.......

That’s not at all relevant to the point. From an asset management viewpoint (which is Kyle Dubas’s job), the Leafs come out as winners from the Expansion Draft. Now unfortunately, while the front office has managed assets well, the players and coaches don’t seem to share the same dedication.

I absolutly love this for Toronto. McCann is good and we paid very little for him.
E6hcTU4WQAMkPP6?format=jpg&name=small

For real though. Everyone on this site always yells about how anyone rumoured to the Leafs is going to cost an arm and a leg, but then Kyle trades for their actual value or less and people always freak out. Like guys, make the adjustment already. Dubas knows how to swing a trade.

What site is this from?
