For everyone saying that it makes no sense to lose Hill and protect Kuemper, Kuemper has more value and clearly they couldn’t get a satisfactory trade completed by today. So you trade the asset you would lose for nothing to Seattle (Hill) and recoup a pick, and protect the more valuable asset (Kuemper). It doesn’t matter that they’re losing a young goalie because they’re gonna suck for the next several years anyway, are getting a pick that is worth more than his current value, and have Prosvetov in the pipeline as well as a solid young goalie prospect. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Kuemper flipped by the end of the summer as well as Arizona goes for Wright.
