Fair deal tbh. Gives the Nucks a fair 3C while giving Dallas space for rookies to prove themselves.

Assuming they’re protecting Dickinson, which they obviously are, Vancouver essentially traded Motte and a 3rd for Dickinson and MacEwen (or someone like that). Which is just terrible for Vancouver.

One of my most prominent mock deals over the past year and it actually came to be.

I shouldn't be surprised. This fits like a glove. Dallas was going to lose Jason for nothing, and Vancouver urgently needed a better third line center.

Love this deal. Stars fans and Canucks fans collectively should too.

Fair trade. Dickinson's value is simply a 3rd round pick. Jim Benning is all about those middle 6 forwards though. Good 3C for Vancouver and Stars get space for younger guys to make the next step.

I'm surprised by this trade. I thought that Dickinson was in the Stars' future plans. And with such an heroic name in Texas, too!

Not necessarily. But we will find out tomorrow. Motte means a lot to this roster so I doubt he is the odd man out. MacEwan should be a clear and obvious exposure. And that doesn't really hurt us either. Highmore is the most likely claim in this situation.

3rd rounder is better than losing Dickinson for free to Seattle, so I'm not complaining.

I thought I heard that Lind was getting protected. And since Horvat, Boeser, Pettersson, Miller, and Pearson are obviously all getting protected, that only leaves one spot for Dickinson. I just said MacEwen to show that Motte is better than whoever else would’ve been chosen.

Winners are probably Canucks fans who did not have to witness another bad move from Benning

Was going to Seattle either way, so might as well get something for him.

If I were making the list, I would protect Motte over Lind. Maybe this trade changes Lind's status. Regardless, I'd rather be patient and see it out before rashly trying to make a positive trade look like an L.

3rd round picks are usually spent on mid-tier pending UFAs.

Vancouver is getting back a mid-tier RFA that is still under team control.

A former 1st round pick who is a solid bottom 6 forward with lots of NHL hockey left as a 24 year old.



Whether this means losing Tyler Motte to Seattle is beside the point and a completely separate issue that should have no bearing on this trade.

They got RIGHTS to Dickinson.

And they probably traded for him with the intensions of getting him on a contract.
