sabres don't accept that trade. If they're looking for something a bit less than that for just Eichel, then they wouldn't give out Sam Reinhart and Olofsson too.

they may get Reinhart and Eichel out of it, since they want to leave. But I doubt they let Olofsson leave for that? Break up the trade as to what piece gets what piece. Byfield and two firsts get Eichel. Turcotte and Kaliyev get Reinhart. So that leaves a first overall that gets both Oloffson, who hasn't said he wants to go, and a third. That's way too little for an up and comer who doesn't seem to want to leave. Kings would have to throw in a couple players to make it work

I wouldn't 1-for-1 swap Turcotte for Reinhart.

Sabres take that and run.

2 firsts + turcott + Kaliyev for Jack
Byfeild for Sam
1st for Olofsson

That is probably more than they can get individually. The question is why would the kings try to implement the same core that already failed the Sabres.

Eichel, Jack
Olofsson, Victor
Reinhart, Sam
Are all NHL players with proven NHL production.
Byfield, Quinton 24 AHL pts in 32 games
Turcotte, Alex 21 pts in 32 AHL games
Kaliyev, Arthur 31 pts in 40 AHL games.
Are all producing OK, not great in the AHL.
No one would expect to give a proven NHL player for a prospect one on one who is not killing it in the AHL.
Take out any two pieces and you have Jack.
Take out any four pieces and you have Sam
Take out any five pieces and add and you have Victor.
Those six pieces do not get you Sam, Jack and Victor.

Great. Buffalo is welcome to keep their guys then. Another few years of drafting #1 overall won't hurt.

exactly. The trade they have is just a little bit more than the asking price for Eichel alone. No way they throw in another big trade piece and a guy who they have no reason to trade whatsoever

I know Buffalo fans (and I as well) tend to over rate our players and prospects.
None of the three prospects are tearing up the AHL.
I actually made a mistake, I wrote: "Take out any four pieces and you have Sam."
I should have written Take out any four pieces and add then you have Sam.
For a player as Sam one typically will get a middling first, decent prospect (that is the key word, someone who has potential but not proven in the NHL) and a young roster player.
The hope is that at least one of the three pieces will become as good as Sam in the future, but the trade is made today to improve the team who gets him.
In this draft Sam is worth the third OA and a small piece.
None of the scouting reports are giving this draft high marks.
In the past four seasons he has 94 goals. Similar to Boeser 94, Ehlers 96, Gaudreau 97, and Tkachuk 97.
People would laugh you out of Cap Friendly if any offered Byfeild one for one for any of them.
But the delusional King fans think the prospects are so great, then they should keep them and develop the team from the draft.
Buffalo already had one GM who rushed the rebuild and we ended up with Dahlin for his efforts, no extra picks, no NHL depth, no NHL defensemen, no prospects.

Do finally, thank you for your comment.

The one thing you are not factoring in is cost and team control. You would hope Byfeild will turn into Sam, but there is a risk there. That risk is mitigated by the fact that Byfeild will make $925k for the next two years and will be cost controlled for the 4 years after that. Sam on the other hand will cost $7+ mil next year and you only have one year of control for him. The Sabres are trading 1 year of control of a known good player for potentially 6 years of a good player.
