Excellent deal by Lou. Not 100% convinced Panik is a regular in the lineup next year but it's better depth. Worst case he's buried and almost none of his cap hit effects the cap ($300k).

If they can move Komarov with that second and the trade is essentially Leddy Komarov out, for 1.3ish of Panik. I love it.

Only thing I can think of is that he could be a mentor for Seider and make it so that he won't need to carry a pairing as a rookie.

I’m thinking that 2nd (among other assets of similar value) is going to be used to dump Ladd. With Kieth and Leddy both getting assets despite big cap hits, I think the moral of the story is cap dumps aren’t as expensive as we thought. I’d bet Komarov and Hickey (both of whom are under 2m cap hits if buried) will cost less than a 2nd to dump. Especially if they’re traded to a team with an LTIRed contract (Gaborik, Kesler, Seabrook, etc) is sent back.
