It'll be interesting to see what NYI is going to do and how that works out.

This is similar to the Toews deal a bit ago. Numbers are all fine

Holy cow did our D get bad over night
Like WPG went from a great D core to nothing but its was a progression

This is just a nightmare for any goalie
Given last time our LD was this weak Price had a bad year with Media all over him about his "weak glove side"
i'd say this eliminates us from the playoffs by taking Price out of the equation especially after picking up a player who's playoff numbers make us consider Starting Primeau just so we can get a win (check it out , Berniers numbers are REAL BAD)

Hamilton i'd love to have but Kulak is crap after 16 minutes on ice
its why he was benched so often because all but i think 1 point came at 16 minutes or under .
His 2 way numbers take a nose dive and turnovers increase.
He's a great 6/7th D but thats it

If the cost of Hamilton is a LD this weak its not worth it.
Putting Edmundston and Kulak in each others spots helps a lot but still leaves our 3rd pair as unreliable depth options.

I like Oleksiak he's just a down grade from Chiarot in every respect
Chiarot especially during injuries in which MTL always sufferers was the only D to step up and lead the team in minutes.
He's big , mean and unrelenting in his role of protecting price without being a liability.
Not to mention a Huge part of our PK that led the NHL and with Weber out losing him to puts us back to square 1

Losing Weber is only good for MTL in any ways you look at it

Not really if he's on LTIR there's no cap hit
It pointless

He only leaves LTIR is the league forces him to retire.
Given they didnt with David Clarkson or Johan Fransen so i dont see why they would with Weber

Plus its in their best interest to let him stay on LTIR to avoid costing a small market expansion team issues

The only Scenario this makes sense is if Weber Retirement was imminent.
Given he's going to have to have the surgery's and take the year off before they'll even know what going on for sure barring something extreme being found out in the next week i just dont see the motivation here when LTIR is our friend

Besides what if like Kucherov after a year off he feels better?
Who wouldnt want our Captain back ?

The man played with 3 friggin injuries because he knew without him MTL was DOA
Weber,Chiarot ,Petry and Edmundson combined for 23-25 minutes on ice while Romanov,Kulak,Gustafsson, and Merril averaged less then 13 minutes

Now your solution is to invest in the 13 minute players lmfao

Oleksiak is offensive , great
But he had 1 year he was better offensively then Chiarot
thats it and it was the year Chiarot went to the SCF and Oleksiak Golfed

Its also important to note it was the first year Chiarot didnt make constant progression
5 straight seasons of improved play , numbers overall and minutes.

Last year he took a step back as Edmundson picked up a lot of slack
But he also busted his hand defending a teammate to start the season setting him back
