It's pretty good value, but I'd rather just take pick #28 (+ Compher), especially if we are trading him in-division it should take some more. What would you think about that?

The Avs are my Western Conference team so I was disappointed to see Ryan Graves go even though he didn't have a great overall season, and specifically, playoffs. Thumbs up on the Ryan Suter signing (though I think he ends up back in Nashville or on the Islanders) and Blake Coleman, but I don't think you are getting Danault for that price seeing as he turned more term and more money from Montreal (apparently) already. If Kadri gets moved, I'd expect him to go somewhere like Arizona in some sort of package that would bring back Dvorak and Garland, in addition to perhaps Kuemper. I also cannot see the Avs giving up so easily on resigning Landeskog. There's only so much money to go around, but I feel/hope they can find some middle ground

Why would they? They are stacked on the wings reportedly shopping Buch anyway, and not only do they get a 2C but a future 3C and a draft pick. I’m an Avs fan and I wouldn’t do that trade if I’m the Avs.

Suter for 3yrs is an exceedingly bad idea. It’s a plus35 contract, which means they are on the hook for the whole amount, and Suter literally has made over a $100M in earnings if you can’t sell him on a 1yr and repeat if works deal at $1.5M to stick it to MIN he doesn’t care about sticking it to MIN.

Kadri isn’t waiving to go to AZ a team that is in sell off mode.

Honestly I don’t know where I saw it, but it was a National guy (probably Friedman on 32 thoughts)saying with Lafrienere, Kakko, Kravtsov, and Kreider already on the wings why wouldn’t they look to move him.

So you have 3 top 10 picks on ELC’s and you want to give $5-$6M to him in addition to having Panarin and Kreider? 🧐

Hes worth every penny, not to mention Kreider was extended before we knew we would get Laf, so hes the player we need least

So you think the best asset management for the Rangers is to keep all of the wingers knowing a) realistically you can’t trade Kreider because of his contract and b) That Lafrienere is going to be a beast, and in all honesty so is Kakko. It’s just a puzzling take when I would think he could be used to get something of greater need.

We won't find buch anywhere else, and Kreiders deal becomes movable in 2024

Because Buch can net a package better than that. Kadri is meh, Bowers hasn’t done anything yet. Pick is kind of meaningless. If Buch is getting moved I would think they’re going big game hunting or trying for a legitimate 2C, although some people think Strome is that guy

Big game hunting for who? Buch is a very nice player but he isn’t the sort of asset a team wants if they are parting with a 2C which means picks and cost controlled assets. That being said I wouldn’t do that trade from the Avs side.

In 3 seasons in which time before Lafrienere, Kakko and Kravtsov will all need extensions AND the cap will be flat. Listen I’m not pushing anything except an alternate point of view saying is his value ever going to be more?

Like I said I’m playing Sevils advocate but you also have Fox due in that time, I just think they would be foolish not to see what they could get for him with that much depth on the wings.

Fox can more or less go 1 of 3 ways, either a 2 year bridge to his final year of RFA eligibility (6-7 mil), a 5 year deal (7-8 mil) so that the big 3 deals end if they're not traded before (Panarin, Trouba and Kreider) and then a retirement deal thats 8×10+, or an 8 year deal right away (8-10 mil)

But where does that 2nd C come from? Again, just a question, but wouldn’t it be better to deal him as part of package to improve the C depth or d depth?

No because losing Buch unless its a world beater at C is a lateral move, also we have tons of depth on D

Eichel? Barkov? Horvat? Monahan? Plenty of options out there. Buch is a better player than two, maybe 3, of those four players. Buch is also better than Kadri by a pretty significant margin. Bowers is an unproven asset that at best tops out as a 3C. The only reason the Avs shouldn’t do this trade is if Buch doesn’t sign for less than 6.5
