With the news that Shea Weber will most likely be unavailable for the entire 2021-22 season and Darren Dregger bringing up the possiblity of him not ever playing again, leads me to believe that Canadiens will protect Ben Chiarot. They cannot afford to lose another one of their defenseman should Weber be sidelined long term. That is obvious enough.
losing Weber also leaves a gaping hole in Montreal's defence. The 8.85M i have Hamilton signed to is probably not enough money. But i do like the idea of Hamilton in Montreal. This would be a great place for him to play and be a number 1 guy.

There are rumours of the Habs shopping Jake Allen in an effort not to lose him for nothing. This projection has Allen getting picked by Seattle. I can see Bergevin signing a guy like David Rittich who has proven to be reliable in Calgary. Last season proved that Montreal needs a strong back up goalie, a rested Carey Price for the playoffs is essential. Cayden Primeau just is not there yet. While Rittich might not be the actual signing, i think it will be someone like him, with experience in the league.

Getting into the Bertuzzi trade, i read today that Montreal was in on him so i thought id have some fun with that option. While im uncertain of Bertuzzi's value i feel like Evans and a 3rd could get Detroit to listen at the very least. Bertuzzi's contract is also a reflection of me not being entirely sure of his value. However, i think a "bridge" type of deal makes sense for him.

Losing Jake Evans and assuming Staal is not brought back leaves a spot open for a 4th line centre. Wouldnt it be cool to see Getzlaf come over and re-join his old pal Corey Perry. Obviously, Getzlaf would have to take a massive pay cut. Coming to Montreal to end his career and hopefully get a shot at another cup. If that doesnt happen, i think the Canadiens will finally give Poehling a fair shot at playing full time which is why i have him as the extra centre.

Lastly, Mattias Norlinder. I have been very high on this player since he was drafted. He is an elite skater who can move the puck, I think he just might turn some heads at camp and crack the opening night roster.
